Communicating boxes is a project with two intentions. First, it attempts to relate the elements of the ecosystem, their functions, how humans use them and the improvement of the environment. Second, we want to relay information about sustainable mining. The objective is to obtain materials for exhibition in order to make the science more relatable. We are going to display information about the quarry, its uses and Heidelberg Cement´s biodiversity plans. The name of the project explains the idea of the communicating vessels theory. The contents in the boxes are in equilibrium, because the quarry respects the environment and it knows how to assimilate into the ecosystem. Finally, we hope to engage students for working in educational projects and to improve society´s understanding of science.
